# Accessibility

## What Is Accessibility?

Web accessibility (also referred to as **a11y**) is the practice of making your websites usable by everyone. While we traditionally think of this as being about people with disabilities, accessible design also benefits:

- Users on mobile devices
- Users with slow network connections
- Users in challenging environments (bright sunlight, noisy locations)
- Aging populations with changing abilities

> **Info**
>
> Accessibility support is necessary to allow assistive technology (screen readers, keyboard navigation, etc.) to properly interpret and interact with web pages.
